Sales History

?

In 1940 the Australia Penny was struck at both the Melbourne and Perth branches of the Royal Mint. The Perth Mint piece can be differentiated from the Melbourne piece as it features a dot between 'KG' - the designers initials, which are located on the right of the reverse. Only 1,113,600 pieces were struck at the Perth Mint which is the second lowest mintage of all George VI Pennies. As a result the type is a semi-key date with high values across all grades. In mint-state the type generally sells for over $1,000.
